Our Ivy

Ivy Stead was born in Washington Tyne & Wear on 3rd November 1926 and lived here until she met Norman Stead who she later married and then moved to Southport and went on to have four children Sheila, Sandra, Norman and Carol. She had many grandchildren and also many great grandchildren. Who she adored and they adored her. The grandchildren enjoyed staying over all weekend and also during the holidays. Unfortunately Norman (grandad) passed away in 1996, this broke all our heart however made the family even closer. Ivy had a catchy sense of humour and made us all laugh. She enjoyed going to bingo on a Friday and sometimes the grandchildren would go with her. Ivy enjoyed going on holidays with the family especially her most recent one to Cyprus with her daughters Carol and Sheila. She used to go to Blackpool for a few days every year with her friends which she really enjoyed. Ivy told us all everytime we saw her how much she loved us and this will stay with us always. Nan went into hospital in April this year and unfortunately never came out. However during her many weeks in hospital she remained happy and cheerful and was always laughing she still had her sense of humour! The last time I saw her she was laughing and joking and was in a really good mood. Her last words to me were "I love you lovey" I cherish these words. We miss her so much however she will remain in our thoughts and hearts forever.
